Burberry Trench Two Ways

love trench coats.  This black trimmed Burberry trench puts a slight twist on a classic item while still keeping it timeless and classic.  A trench coat is one of those fabulous pieces that you can dress up or down.  The black piping on this one makes it especially easy to dress up.

The more casual outfit has another one of my favorite items: riding boots.  These Gucci ones are fab and will last you forever.  The rest of the outfit is relatively inexpensive, but the quality pair of boots and the trench elevate the ensemble and really make it sing.

The red Versace dress doesn’t need much elevating…it’s pretty breathtaking all on its own, but great accessories never hurt.  The white point-toe pumps are trendy and add more sophistication to the dress rather than taking it away.  The clutch adds a pop of excitement with a pattern to an otherwise solid-hued outfit.  Add the trench and you’re ready for a night on the town, rain or shine.

Jason Wu Lace Appliqué Dress

As you may know, I love pairing things with contrast.  The clean lines of the coat, shoes and clutch pair well with the girly dress and jewels.  I like that it’s a mix of some classic, timeless pieces with newer, trendier pieces.  (Pointed toe shoes are very hot right now.)
I would pair this look with a hot pink lip to match the coat, and an ever-so-slight cat eye with nude, or no, eyeshadow.  You should only play up one feature of your face or you could end up looking like a clown.  This look, paired with the previously described makeup, is girly, edgy and chic.

Lanvin and McQueen Do Black and Red

Lanvin is all about draping and making fabric fall beautifully in a sort of naturally dramatic way. (Draping is usually done with one piece of fabric making the perfect draped dress that much harder to achieve.)  Though this dress is more streamlined than the usual Lanvin, the draping influence can be seen clearly in the sleeves.

I usually really hate this color combination of red, black and white.  I think it looks slightly cheap, but if it’s done by Lanvin, Alexander McQueen, and topped off with a ring by Bottega Veneta, I actually quite like it.
I love the contrast of the soft lines of the bag and ring against the hard lines of the shoes and earrings.  The dress is made of silk-gazar which is a very soft fabric.  It’s almost poetic that such a hard looking dress was made with a soft, usually flowing, fabric.  It looks amazing in motion:

Lanvin delivers again!

Obsessed: Fendi Winter Tale Boot

Fendi is all about the fur this winter, as can be seen in their advertisement below.  One of my favorite items to help brave the cold to come are the Fendi Winter Tale boots.  Below are two outfit ideas to show just how versatile these amazing booties are! I’ve written about Gucci fur booties before, but the details on these Fendi’s are almost awe inducing.  From the side, the buckles are totally visible, but from the front, it’s all fur…and I’m not complaining!  This is one of the most beautiful winter booties I’ve come across in a while.

An almost identical style comes in black and is called the Fur Vamp Ankle Boot:

I can’t quite decide which color is my favorite.  I wouldn’t complain with either, but I think the black makes the gold pop a little bit more.  I’ve always loved black and gold, but the brown are also amazing!  What’s not to love?  It’s fur and Fendi!

Jason Wu Tuxedo Jacket; Fall 2011

I love mixing menswear shapes with girly or sexy touches in an outfit.  This tuxedo jacket from Jason Wu’s fall RTW collection is amazing and very versitile.  Here’s the look on the runway:

Although I love this look, I like adding more feminine flair when I wear a blazer or a tuxedo jacket.  Pairing it with a corset is a sexy look.  It’s less androgynous and is a great way to look feminine, sexy and powerful all at the same time.

Another way you could wear this jacket is with a dress.  A lot of celebrities have been pairing gowns with blazers, but my personal favorite has been Sarah Jessica Parker in Oscar de la Renta:

Pairing a gown with a tuxedo jacket wouldn’t really work, unless the gown was very simple.  The idea behind this look, at least for me, is pairing a dress with a contrasting jacket…so if your dress is fancy, wear a casual jacket…if your dress is more casual, wear a fancier jacket.  Here’s the tuxedo jacket (fancy) paired with a more casual dress:
